The Shahade Family in Kamoun

Status: Denied equal protection before the law

Residents from the Jewish Israeli village of Kamoun filed a petition to the High Court on July 6, 2006, demanding, among other things, that the Arab Shahade family be re-located from their home in Kamoun to a neighboring Arab village called Kammaneh.

According to a report by Adalah, the Shahade family has been living in Kamoun since the 19th century but have been unable to secure building permits from the Israeli government.
